Finding Warriors on the Streets of Hanoi, Vietnam.

And no, I’m not talking about the Vietnam War, for a change.
These warriors are far older, but I have enjoyed seeing them in almost every city we’ve visited in Vietnam, although the ones in Hanoi were the most striking.
Painted or sculpted on the outside of old Chinese temples tucked away in busy city streets, they are gate guardians and add a fearsome splash of colour everywhere they appear.
We have sometimes walked down the same street 5 or 6 times, especially when we were in Hanoi, and because there’s so much going on around us, we’ve often failed to notice an ancient temple hiding in plain sight. This is best demonstrated in the headline photo at the top of this article.
